My Accidental Love For The ASOS Duffle Coat (+Dresses)

0 Comments so far

An update on my stuff from ASOS after receiving the packages

First up was my black ASOS Funnel Neck Coat With Pleated Shoulder (in this post)… Despite looking quite navy (and not black), and generally looking quite different to what I remembered, I opened the packaging anyway, trying to recall whether I bought the coat or not. It was obviously a duffle coat, but the bag label was for the ASOS Funnel Neck Coat With Pleasted Shoulder.

After pondering about returning the coat and getting a refund, and deciding that it was too much hassle, I decided to give it a shot and tried it on… it fitted nicely, was well-made, and it looked very nice. And plus, I didn’t have a navy coat so it might be a good change from my usual black (the item looks more navy than the pictures).

A few days of having the coat in mind, I decided that I couldn’t wait to wear it! So I wore it while I was out yesterday, and have gained quite a bit of new-found love for this duffle!

So yes, despite it being the wrong STYLE, the wrong COLOUR, and even the wrong SIZE (received a UK8 instead of a UK10, but it was fitted well for my size AU 8-10), it turned out really well!

Next up is the ASOS 50′s knitted dress. I got the petite size 10 in blue. It is a very cute dress, I’ve been eyeing it for a while now. Love the blue colour (so serene), and I love the knit; it is well made, feels nice and soft, and is bouncy. Hard to explain, but the material is nice. The bottom is a looser knit (see picture below), and although I’m worried about it  accidentally getting caught on something, it completes the dress! ♥

From my understanding, the petite sizes cater to people who are 5”3″ (160 cm). Because ASOS is notorious for their dresses being short, and since I’m 5’5″, I thought this dress would be slightly shorter on me… But it wasn’t; it reached just below my knee. Everything fits well, and is comfortable. I feel like something is missing… maybe a belt or a hat or something. Whatever it is, I can’t wait to wear it out!

And I got 2 of the same Vero Moda dress (Vero Moda 50′s Fit And Flare Prom Dress) in different colours and sizes… Because of my love for this dress, I initially got the red one in a size 38 (UK 10) as there wasn’t any size 36 in the red or the black (sold out rather quickly), even after reading that it might be slightly big.

A little while later, a black one in a size 36/UK 8 came back into stock, and even though I hadn’t received the red one as yet, I decided to get it anyway just in case the size 38 was too big.

My hypothesis turned out to be true; size 38 was slightly big, and the size 36 was a good fit. Such a shame, as you can see the fit and flare skirt better on the red than the black… and I have a few black dresses and not so many reds. Because of this, I’m still in two minds about keeping the red dress, and wonder if I can add a figure-hugging waist belt or something to make it look more fitted…

But anyway, this dress is cute on, has a good length, the fabric feels nice and it is comfortable.

Motel Sassy Gemma Patsie

Happy I was when Mr AG handed me my Motel order!

Right after I tore the packaging off, I reached for my maxi skirt. I was slightly worried about the size as I decided to get this in an XS/UK 8 instead of a S/UK 10 based on the measurements given on the website… and plus, I wanted it to sit more on the waist than the hip (because I am short, and the skirt looks super long!).

Anyway, the skirt is super long, and the waist band is elastic and sits on my waist just the way I wanted it. It is very flowy, very pleasted, and the wine colour is vibrant! Can’t wait for a windy day for a change (I’m usually not very fond of any skirts reaching pass my knees, and windy days in those skirts = Monroe moments)!

Next up is the Sassy skirt in coral. The coral is more on the pink side, but I don’t particular mind. I got this one in a S/UK 10… and it just fits around my waist, borderline tight (it is a zip up skirt, so it probably has less leeway than the Patsie skirt despite being a size larger!), and reaches to just above my knee. It is flowy and feels very light weight; very summery. I see this one with a plain top tucked under the skirt… Any other inspirations?

And then my long awaited Gemma dress in red! I got this in a S/UK 10 based on my Motel Naomi dress (which fitted like a charm).

It was so difficult to get this on, so much that I think I’m doing it wrong… I was worried about ripping the waist part as I put the dress over my head, trying to squeeze my arms through.

At the end, once it was on, everything fitted nice, except the bust area. It’s a problem I encounter quite a fair bit… perhaps it was tailored more towards well-endowed ladies? I don’t know, but hopefully I can get away with it!

But yes, apart from that, it is super cute on, comfortable despite it being hard to put on and remove (so definitely not going shopping while I’m wearing this dress, or dress-room time will be at least trebled!)… Cute length, cute shoulder buttons, cute cut-out back… it’s just cute. =] I’m tempted to get the navy one now…

I Have Yet Again Sinned… (Motel This Time!)

But but but, they were having a sale, and how could I  possibly resist…?

So, once again… Forgive me, for I have sinned.

And just when I was telling Mr AG how proud I was of myself that I haven’t shopped for a while… till he read out the credit card charges (I’ve made a small Cotton On purchase 2 days ago, and a Glassons purchase 4 days back)… Sheepish I was.

It seriously felt like it’s been a while…!

Anyway, these are the goodies I’m waiting for in Mr AG’s mail… hopefully soon.

First up in the first row is the Gemma dress in red; I’ve mentioned in this post in a wishlist (finally bought one, and here’s hoping it’ll fit nicely!).

From the website: “An amazing bright red summer dress with scoop neckline, button tab sleeves and contrast trim edging. The dress is fitted with a full skater style skirt with subtle pleats. A cut out v-back with button closures means you can bare some skin!”

Second row, the Sassy skirt in coral. I really like the way it flows, looks airy fairy! And I wanted something in coral too (don’t have many if any!)

From the website: “Introducing our new skater style Sassy skirt in coral. The cotton skirt is full with slight pleats and falls to the mid-thigh – absolutely perfect for summer! Team with wedges or sandals.”

And in third row is the Patsie maxi pleat skirt in wine. And usually, anything past the knee I wouldn’t like. But this one looks very versatile, and very feminine.

From the website: “A beautiful wine coloured maxi skirt in a sheer fabric with knife pleats. The skirt is fully lined for a dramatic look.”

I Heart Bows!

0 Comments so far

Anyone who knows me know I love bows! Bows are the cutest things ever! <3

I love bows so much that sometimes, in my free time, I just sit there and google bows…

No, really. I do.

Another thing is, I browse ASOS almost every day.

I combine the two things a fair bit, and found some cute things!

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this before, as I look at the jackets and coats section every other day!

What a cute bow! And cute summer dress in general… though our weather at the moment is not really suited to it!

I can’t find a picture where a model has it on, but I’ve seen it somewhere on the website, and it looks quite cute on!

Bow stockings

Speaking of bow stockings brings heartache as it reminds me of my own pair… What happened?

Well, let me tell you this; my feet/toe nail (?) has a horrible reputation for being harsh on stockings… So the first time I wore my bow stockings, I actually wore socks underneath to protect my stockings them…

Fast forward 12 hours of walking around in lab, my feet decided to be a little nasty, and pierced through both my socks AND my stockings, leaving a massive hole in the poor things! So, my first time wearing them is probably my last also. What a waste, as I really loved them!

Anyway.
Let’s not talk about that anymore.

Oh, another thing I just remembered! I’ve been looking for ages for one of my bow rings (yes, an ASOS one), and I still can’t find it (this one here)… But I guess I have another 3 bow rings around, so that’s okay…

So.

Other times when I’m not browsing ASOS for bows, I browse Alannah Hill!

I also love (intact) love hearts! I think they’re so cute!

And Eiffel towers. So pretty!

And a sweetheart neckline on a dress or a bodice is just too adorable!

Okay. That is all.
