Breakfast At Cafe Ish, Surry Hills

At long last, we hear from the busy AC (who if not caught the travel bug, has been busy with work), and even offered a breakfast outing with the rest of us RC members (Ag buddy, ZW, and I). So even though a 9 AM start was quite early for a Saturday, we looked forward to catching up over bacon & eggs, of course.

And early I was, subconsciously waking at 5:30 AM thinking I was late, slept again, and still had excess time by the time I got up (I’m not even that early for uni!). Apparently, I was not the only one who was early; Ag buddy was also early… she even turned up to Central station 20 minutes early, despite having trackwork on her train line.

Anyway, due to good reviews, we decided to have our breakfast at Cafe Ish, an Australian/Japanese cafe at Surry Hills.

At first, we didn’t head in because between Cafe Ish and the neighbouring shop, there appears to be a video shoot of some sort. And we thought we’d wait outside a tiny bit since ZW hadn’t arrived yet.

After a while, we walked in but weren’t served a seat, so we randomly resided at a table. The waitress came by and asked if we were ready to order, and we told her we wanted the menu. And then she came by 2 minutes later to ask if we were ready to order drinks, to which we replied that we hadn’t decided yet. Two minutes passed, and she walks by to ask if we wanted to order yet, so on impulse, we ordered our drinks (Ag buddy and I ordered an orange juice each, and AC an English breakfast tea). Another waitress came by, and we told her we ordered our drinks, and that we also told her we were waiting for a friend. So, they relocated us to upstairs to accommodate the 4 of us, which was a lot comfier!

By that stage, I was feeling a sense of urgency and unwelcomed by the place.

Anyway, ZW finally arrived, and the waitress saw this as an opportunity to ask if he wanted to order a drink, and he just replied no. We sat deciding on which “breakkie ish” meal we wanted to order. At the end, AC decided on a Little ish, whilst ZW, Ag buddy, and I went for the Big ish.

We had to tell them our preference of bread (white or whole grain), and the way we liked our eggs. Somehow, I remembered to ask them to cook my meal with extra virgin olive oil rather than butter (lactose-issues), but completely forgot that scrambled eggs are often cooked with milk (argh!)… Until it came out looking creamy (commented by Ag buddy). So we clarified with the waitress, and they tried to accommodate for intolerance. In the end, Ag buddy agreed to do a swap with me (she had poached eggs), but her toast was buttered, so the waitress offered us another piece of toast. Everything worked out, but man was I in the mood for some scrambled eggs!

Orange juice ($5.5)

AC’s Little ish (fried egg)

Quattro Stelle bacon, 1 egg, roast tomato and toast ($13.5)

Ag buddy’s Big ish (poached eggs)

2 eggs, bacon, tomato, croc sausage, mushroom, beans, toast, fried potato mochi ($24)

ZW and I ordered Big ish with scrambled eggs

2 eggs, bacon, tomato, croc sausage, mushroom, beans, toast, fried potato mochi ($24)

Aside from previous issues, we all had an awesome meal! The orange juice tasted fresh, the food tasted and looked lovely. My poached eggs were cooked perfectly, the croc sausage tasted very different (it was quite spicy actually), the bacon, oh what can I say to bacon… I just love bacon! Not a fan of beans, so I just ignored it and can’t comment. ZW was yet again the lab rat and tried the potato mochi for me, and to his suspicions, it did contain cream/cheese. So that was something I also didn’t eat. But everything else was great!

And! The waitresses practically left us alone to the point where we actually found it hard to grab their attention. Complete 180 degree, but I liked it better this way!

We had the most random talks, which were often accompanied by loud laughter. One example… we had dubbed one of the doors “the jump of death”… because it looked like you had to jump down when exiting that door (click on picture and you’ll see why).

Door (see back story)

Anyway, we had a nice and filling meal, and continued our journey out the door by walking for about an hour, burning the food off while having more random chats and soaking up the lovely sun (by the way, how beautiful was the weather today?!).

Pole Shoes (Delight 609) & The Beginners’ Performance

Exhausted, but still feeling the excitement running through me!

So, I popped into High Heels in Surry Hills before my pole lesson at 1 PM, looking to buy some shoes to start elementary off next Wednesday.

I was served by a lovely lady who also did pole, and we struck up a nice conversation while she showed me what shoes were available. Many of the pairs I wanted to try on wasn’t in store, but she kept assuring me they can order in any pair of shoes, and will arrive shortly.

However, she did show me a pair of black Delight, and I instantly took a liking to it! She told me it was probably one of the better pairs to start off with. I tried it on and it felt right, so I ended up getting them…

I got to pole with a couple minutes to spare, and we did the warm up. And then our routine, where I decided to wear the Pleasers. I found that I couldn’t control the stopping of some spins… and was worried with tripping over, but the instructor kept telling me to leave them on.

Fast forward to the performance, and I was shaking visibly. There was only the three of us today; everyone must’ve bailed! Apart from a few minor mistakes and nerves, the performance went okay. The elementary routine was very pretty, and the instructors’ performance was reeeeallly awesome! Then we had a chance to take some photos for a while, which was a lot of fun!

With this, we have “graduated”, yay!!

P.S. My shoes already have scratches… I guess that’s normal, but I didn’t expect it to have scratch marks in the same day I bought them… All’s good, I still hope to get a lot of use out of them!

Midnight Tea Browsing Dresses

My tea just finished brewing, and I’m just on the computer, online shopping while sipping my hot tea (yeah, it’s almost midnight, but I really felt like one…).

Actually, reminds me, about 3 years back at this time (it’s currently STUVAC at uni), I used to brew a whole teapot for myself, burning the midnight oil cramming for exams. Good times.

But no, I’m just online shopping, again… just as I have been the whole day (ASOS and eBay mostly)… though I did do other things, such as going for a stroll, accompanying my mum to Aldi (more on that below), afternoon catnap, Chinese drama-ing, and cleaned up my room (slightly).

As always, mum wanted to go Aldi, and wanted me to go with, but I didn’t want to. But still, she did manage to drag me there… She wanted a load of bread, so I was telling her to grab one, and then leave. Aisles were opening, and we were too late to join a new aisle (we just got in), but this caught my eye, and we both started giggling at how big it was (I just HAD to take a pic)…

massive-clock

Check out the gigantic clock :3

And then we started laughing really hard at the fact that she’s taking a photo of me holding the clock… and that random people had started to look at us rather strangely XD I told this to AG and he concurred, “You are pretty embarrasing”. Well, thanks!

Anyway.

I have yet compiled another wishlist… this time it’s dresses!

They are quite simple, but they’re so cute!!! I want them all, but I might just hold off until my other package arrives… And then maybe I’ll get a few one. Though I still have the usual issue of sizing; I’d like these to have a nice fit… They kinda rely on having shape.

I like both the coffee and the blue, but perhaps the blue more. There’s also a pink that looks more like coral to me, and it isn’t quite my colour for this dress.

Another red one! I guess I’m a little more confident with the size of this one if it’s anything like my last Motel dress. Hope the sizing is consistent within the brand.

Warm Warm Dinner + Random Moment

Impromptu meet up with Antigen buddy and Miss YP =D

And with Miss YP, it only meant one thing… Korean food!

It was really busy and loud, and we sat right next to a sorta loud table (they were playing drinking games), so we screamed through our catch up! Plus, because the air con was on heat with people hot potting and BBQing around, it was an uncomfortable sweat-inducing warm in the restaurant! So off came outer wear (and I really packed on with that).

We ordered the beef and seafood hot pot (which was MASSIVE), and some bulgogi (which we perhaps shouldn’t have, since we had so much food!). A peach tea for me and a soju for Miss YP and Antigen buddy (as I don’t drink).

picture212

picture113

Lots of stuff for our hot pot: Chinese cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, tofu, cucumbers, udon noodles, beef, mussels, prawns, squid… I’m sure I’ve missed stuff as well!

Bulgogi

And then as we were finishing up, a guy came up to our table, kinda drunk, and started telling us how he was penalised for a drinking game, and had to have a toast with the 3 of us.

So he poured me a drink (the other girls had one), and I had to pour him one, and toasted/drank up. And then he asked me to pick some food up and feed him.

We were so amused… until Antigen buddy told me that his friend caught it all on camera! But anyway, how random is that?!

Anyway, great night and catch up (long overdue), and something funny to remember it by ^_^;

Madang Korean Restaurant & Laser Tag

0 Comments so far

I met up with the uni gang last night at a Korean BBQ place to have catch up dinner as we haven’t had a proper one all summer!

I wore my new flats and brought a change of sandals, but when I got off the train, the shoes were cutting me so deeply I had to change almost straight away. Walking was fine after that, was I ended up being the first one to get there (most of us knew where it was). So I took a table for 8, and the waiter showed me to the outside area (some of us liked that, while others hated it).

Whilst on my iphone and ipod, feeling a little bored, DZ and KW turned up. Then it was GT. Another while, AG called to ask where it was (371 and 371 on the opposite sides were quite far away from one another, and that confused both AG and AT, the latter whom I went to collect after many phone calls!). KW went to get AT, GT went to get money and offered to look for AT, and after not returning, I went to look for AT and saw HL and LC were outside looking for AT. Needless to say, all was confusing until we all got to the table.

Next confusing thing was the ordering. W e had 8 people, 2 BBQ cookers, so we splitted into 2 groups of 4′s. We settled on ordering double of each dish, but I wanted to try more stuff (without the repeat cos I figured we could’ve shared), and it was all too confusing until we agreed on ordering for ourselves separately. I don’t know how, but we ended up with mostly the same dishes anyway *sweatdrops* I didn’t get to take individual photos cos the guys wanted badly to dig in! haha typical!

Madang, Pitt street, City

Marinated chicken, Beef ribs, Dumplings

Ox tongue, Pork brisket, Korean “gyoza”?

A repeat! Haha

Side dishes, Soft shell crab

Cooking (I didn’t do it haha), conversing and eating was a joy! Many high times (how I missed them!), many current affairs, many memories brought back while eating a whole week’s serve of meat! And how we finished it, I do not know. But we did without any to spare! It was satisfying =]

Walking out wih a full stomach, we walked to Darling Harbour where we were to play bowling. Couple of people didn’t want to, and since there was laser tag there, we decided to play that instead. So, I was in sandals and a dress, the other girls were in uncomfy shoes… but what the heck! We all did. 3 games worth! Since it was my first time, I was naturally unequipped, and lost miserably. I improved the next two rounds; in fact, we girls team (with Mr AG) won the 2nd round and took victory photos (and defeat photos of the boys) as proof! Ah that was fun!

After that, we parted ways. It’s been fun, and hopefully have a repeat of the amount of fun some time soon!
