And we JUST made to it Ritz cinemas to watch Bridesmaids. The cinemas was actually quite full (I don’t go to Ritz very often, but maybe I should, because it’s only $8 on Tuesdays!).

Some might say this is a chick flick, but I really don’t regard it as such.

This movie was very enjoyable; funny, awkward/embarrassing, colourful, and has some emotional/sadface moments, and even gag-gross in some scenes (to the point where I had to turn away). Some parts were wrong, and some parts were just WRONG (must watch the end bit… it’s only then I think you’ll see what I mean)!

I thought it had a nice amount of friendship, jealousy/competition, and romance (I’m not the type to like a lot of this stuff, but I like the amount in this flick).

I especially like how the lead actress (Kristen Wigg) portrayed Annie; very likable and almost unlikable at the same time! But the way she makes a fool out of herself… oh the hilarity! Oh and for some reason, I thought Rhodes was adorable! :3

Anyway, we all enjoyed it a lot, it has good ratings on rotten tomatoes, and I recommend it.

The Hangover 2

After uni (9 PM on a Friday night… yes, what the heck?), Mr AG picked me up to watch The Hangover 2. We were planning to watch it when it released yesterday, but plans changed (been a bit busy of late at uni), so we shifted it a day forward.

Rushed to the City, got there at 9:30, got a park and everything… had no time to eat so we grabbed some Maccas to go (which was disappointing actually… we asked for “no cheese” and they threw in “no sauce” as a bonus, and my large fries looked like a medium in a large paper box, and don’t get me started about how long it took in the short line!).

Got to the cinemas, and bought our tickets for the 10:30 PM session, and the sign made us walk through the candy bar (nice marketing technique!). We were going to enter, but apparently, we couldn’t enter with Maccas (nice), so I gobbled it up, got myself some indigestion happening before going in. The seats were almost completely filled, quite impressive!

The movie was random (smoking monkey on cocaine) and awkward, had tons of nudity, swearing, panic, and humour, which should be perfect for unwinding on a Friday evening… But something was missing for me. I recall having a super fond impression on the first movie that I didn’t get for this one. I can’t quite pinpoint it; perhaps it was because of the “slow” scenes throughout the movie… or perhaps it wasn’t adventurous enough. And especially at the end of the film, I thought the resolution was a bit simple and rushed, and left me sitting there going, “what, that was it?”. So yeah, perhaps all these elements contributed to not being super impressed with the film.

That said, it was a nice and easy film. I especially liked Stu; he was hilarious, and I can definitely relate to him. Alan was… Alan. I also loved Mr Chow; his opening scene was great! Disappoint was I with one of the side characters, Stu’s future father-in-law… one dimensional acting, and bland.

Anyway, I only liked it moderately, and had hoped for more spark (for lack of a better word).
