Loving Milk and Honey’s Winter ’11 Collection: Love And Chaos

So many cute pieces from the Milk and Honey Winter ’11 collection (Love and Chaos)! I seriously want them all! ♥ Just a couple I am eyeing…

Tallulah Skirt and Jacket

Tallulah Party Dress

Stellar Dress

Distressed Skirt, Distressed Jacket, Silver Heart Tee

Distressed Dress

Garden of Shadows Zip Dress

All Creatures Eyelet Dress

Scout Jacket

I ended up getting three things… The Tallulah Skirt, Stellar Dress, and Silver Heart Tee ♥ The colours on The Stellar Dress is just gorgeous! It kind of remind me of the purple Black Milk Galaxy Leggings (which I also want want)…

I’m really tempted to get more, but I’m worried about sizing as I’ve never bought from Milk and Honey before… I’ve eyed things from them before, but never managed to try them on. I really hope these fit well, so I can go on and order something else (perhaps the Distressed skirt)!

ASOS Purchases: August 2011

I made it through the month without purchasing too much from ASOS (only two orders, here and here)!

After buying with the 10% code, I resisted temptation for several others… from memory, it was a 20% off code for full priced items, followed by a 10% code for all items!  And then the 20% code after that for full or sale price items (that was very hard to resist but I did it!)!  To be fair, I did come close a couple times… and with one of my purchases, I received an email giving me an account-linked 10% code for a delay in delivery which I’m thinking of using (maybe)…

Anyway, I got 4 items this month including the burgundy OTK socks (not shown).

Firstly, the Oh My Love 60′s Lace Shift Dress With Fringed Sleeves. I got this in the cream colour in a size UK 8.  The cream colour actually is quite subtle; it looks more like off-white but definitely not white (which I’m happy about). For reference, I’m a size AU 8-10, and the size 8 is perfect.  It is flattering, but it is a little short for my liking (I’m 166 cm, and this dress reaches mid-thigh).  I think I’ll wear it with leggings or at least stockings underneath.  The dress material feels very soft with a cute floral lace pattern, is comfortable to wear, and doesn’t feel flimsy.  One thing I’m still rather in two minds about is the fringed sleeves… but overall, I’m quite happy with this dress.

Secondly, I got the ASOS Colour-Block Pleated Mini Skirt in white, size 8.  Out of the packaging, it needed an iron (see first pic… second pic is ironed, but I don’t think I did a good job on it; it still looks crinkled).  I really like the pleats and colours on this skirt (looks like on the website).  This skirt is actually a bit tight for me, so it sits rather high up on my waist (waistband is approximately 34.5 cm across, so double for size).  Because of that, it is a little short (again, mid-thigh).  Otherwise, it is a well-made skirt (thick cotton, unlined), and I think it’d be cute for spring =)

Then is the ASOS TIMBAD Spike Heel Boots.  I read somewhere that UK show sizing is two sizes less than Australian sizes, and since I’m an AU 7, I went for the UK 5.  With socks, the shoe is a bit too tight (the front is a tad narrow for my wide foot).  It looks like on the website, and is quite cute, but at a mere price of just 13 pounds, the quality is very average; you get what you pay for I guess.  I like it, but it’s not exactly what I’m looking for.

ASOS sent an email giving a further 10% discount code, and while it isn’t much of a discount, it made me browse… things caught my eye, and before I knew it, I have yet made another order. To be fair, two of the three were already on my watch list beforehand, but never made the order as yet.

Skirt: the pleats and the colours on the skirt is too cute! I ordered this in a size UK 8… hopefully it fits well.

The boots: Part of why I got these was because they were on sale… I also think they looked good, and I was somewhat looking for something like this. I am a size AU 7, and I read somewhere that 2 sizes down would be the UK size, so I ordered the UK 5. Fingers crossed they fit!

The socks: I am in love with socks, leggings, stockings, etc that has to do with the legs. And I don’t have burgundy socks, so I ordered them, because I will find a use for them. Speaking of socks and stockings and leggings, I wonder how many I have now!

P.S. I received a connote email from ASOS this afternoon – my cream lace dress will be sent shortly!! Yay!!!

Lookfantastic Review

0 Comments so far

For a while, I have been looking to purchase the Urban Decay Naked Palette for Princess K for her birthday. I had no such luck, as every time websites had stock again, it was gone fairly soon after the announcement. And I’ve heard stories where after ordering/paying, they sometimes receive an email a bit later saying that they either:

  1. Couldn’t get the supplier to send it (meaning they didn’t have the physical stock in the first place).
  2. Took a long time before telling the customer that it wasn’t available anymore.

So when I saw that Lookfantastic had it up for grabs, I snapped one without thinking too much about it, half expecting for the order to get cancelled. That was on the 24th July.

A few hours later, I decided to read up on some reviews on the website… and to my horror, found reviews that were mostly negative (1.7 out of 5 stars from 63 reviewers)… things such as having poor customer service, taking ages to dispatch/ship, and to avoid this website.

I got this sinking feeling and berated myself, and quickly filled in a contact form to try and cancel my order.

A couple of days passed without hearing back from them, I was starting to think that I wasn’t going to get the product or the money back…

On the 27th July, I received an email notifying me that my parcel was dispatched. My cancellation email was then followed up on the 3rd Aug, with a reply saying that they couldn’t cancel my order as it was already dispatched. So I thought, okay, maybe it is going to work out after all.

Come the 10th Aug, and Mr AG received the order! Horray!!

Everything worked out better than expected, and it came at a good time (before Princess K’s birthday!), so against all of those negative reviews, I must say I’m pretty happy with the service (first time lucky?)! =]

P.S. I couldn’t wait to give it to Princess K, so I dropped by her place and gave it to her, said hi to her family (including her pup and kitten), and caught up for a little while!

Oh My Love 60′s Lace Shift Dress With Fringed Sleeves

Made a quick order on ASOS after makingmy decision about the super cute lace dress that’s been on my mind lately! At first, I wasn’t really sure about the fringed sleeves (I even thought about cutting it off…), but I figured I can live with it!

Here it is; the Oh My Love 60′s Lace Shift Dress With Fringed Sleeves. I got the cream… *gasp* and not black, even though it is just as cute (Most of my dresses are black, so decided against it). BUT! If I receive it, and it fits well and I love it heaps and heaps, and is not sold out by then, I will also get the black one!

I Have Yet Again Sinned… (Motel This Time!)

But but but, they were having a sale, and how could I  possibly resist…?

So, once again… Forgive me, for I have sinned.

And just when I was telling Mr AG how proud I was of myself that I haven’t shopped for a while… till he read out the credit card charges (I’ve made a small Cotton On purchase 2 days ago, and a Glassons purchase 4 days back)… Sheepish I was.

It seriously felt like it’s been a while…!

Anyway, these are the goodies I’m waiting for in Mr AG’s mail… hopefully soon.

First up in the first row is the Gemma dress in red; I’ve mentioned in this post in a wishlist (finally bought one, and here’s hoping it’ll fit nicely!).

From the website: “An amazing bright red summer dress with scoop neckline, button tab sleeves and contrast trim edging. The dress is fitted with a full skater style skirt with subtle pleats. A cut out v-back with button closures means you can bare some skin!”

Second row, the Sassy skirt in coral. I really like the way it flows, looks airy fairy! And I wanted something in coral too (don’t have many if any!)

From the website: “Introducing our new skater style Sassy skirt in coral. The cotton skirt is full with slight pleats and falls to the mid-thigh – absolutely perfect for summer! Team with wedges or sandals.”

And in third row is the Patsie maxi pleat skirt in wine. And usually, anything past the knee I wouldn’t like. But this one looks very versatile, and very feminine.

From the website: “A beautiful wine coloured maxi skirt in a sheer fabric with knife pleats. The skirt is fully lined for a dramatic look.”

Glassons Merino Wool Tops!

I’ve been wanting some merino wool tops for ages since I’m never warm enough and heard that merino wool is the way to go… I’ve visited some stores but they were a bit pricey and I just left it at that…

But tonight,  finally got some!

I bought 4 different merino wool basics/tops in different colours via the Glassons website for a pretty good price at just under NZD100 (plus I’m really sick at the moment and always feeling cold, so the purchase is quite easily justified)!

So, hopefully these will arrive sooner than later, and will help me through the cold, lonely days (hehe).

100% Merino knit scoop neck top (rosebud)

Bonus points: They now ship to Australia for free! I think it actually started today as well! YAY =]

ASOS Purchase: 2 Dresses & A Coat

So I went a bit crazy over the last couple of days, placing a few ASOS orders back-to-back.

But! I’m really excited as I’ve finally got the 50′s knitted dress that I’ve been hoping for (written in this post), in the petite size 10. I really hope it fits okay…

Petite 50′s knitted dress (blue)

And the Vero Moda fit and flare dress I got (red, size 38) (in this post) that I suspected to be a bit big but ordered it anyway because it ran out of sizes? I went ahead and bought another one when the black size 36 came back in stock! So now I’ve got more of a chance of having this dress fit (silly, I know!)

I also snagged a sold out coat I’ve wanted that came back in stock in my size (I suspect someone returned it as there was only one left)… Too many coats won’t hurt, especially in winter (so I say…) =]

So, I Kinda Made Another ASOS Order…

But, this time, it was for my brother. Sort of…

He’s been wanting a coat, and I found a nice looking trench, and decided to order it for him.

ASOS Funnel Neck Trench Coat

Shell: 62% Wool, 19% Viscose, 19% Polyester
Lining: 100% Polyester

He’s been going to the gym lately, and looks a little bulkier, so I ordered this coat in the large. Hopefully it fits nicely enough when it arrives, but should do as coats are usually more forgiving.

The problem was this dress…

Vero Moda 50′s Fit And Flare Prom Dress

I actually spent ages reading reviews and such for sizing… Basically, what I gathered was an array of mixed reviews. Some say Vero Moda dresses are true to size, and some say that they have dresses that are on the smaller side, and some say it is a little generous in size.

Ahhhh, Y U SO INCONSISTENT?

In general, for this specific dress, I came to the conclusion that it will be a little on the generous side… so being a size AU 10, I should be getting the EU 36…

BUT!

Size EU 36 was sold out in both the red and the black (It’s still available in the brown, but I’m not very fond of it)… and so I pondered and pondered on the size EU 38…

Since that was running low on stock as well, ASOS is having a 50% off summer sale at the moment and I love the dress so much and I simply could not resist… I took the plunge and bought the red in size EU 38 anyway.

SO. I hope it fits well!
